I am sitting in my home office watching crowds of trump supporters storming and breaching the Capitol building. This was never intended to be a political website. That being said I have to say this is a very sad day in our democracy. This day has been predicted since trump said that if he lost the election was rigged. Trump and his legal team has had plenty of time to legally object to this election and have had absolutely zero legal grounds to overturn the will of the people. There have been plenty of accusations, hearsay, conspiracy theories, and straight out lies that have zero basis in fact or reality.
What we are seeing is an attempted coup by a party that has lost because of their lack of morality, decency, and any sense of democracy. I was disappointed when trump was elected and found it very hard to call him my president. I don’t recall the masses of people that stormed the capitol to violently attempt an overthrow. I don’t recall month after month of the Democratic party using conspiracy theories in the courts to ignore the electoral college results. I do remember Hillary Clinton calling trump to concede and then conceding in front of the entire nation. I remember the outgoing president, Obama, inviting the president elect into the White House and offering and making a peaceful transfer of power.
Arrests need to be made, a message needs to be sent that WE THE PEOPLE will not accept this kind of attack on OUR democracy. I am the last to promote violence and have had very strong opinions on law enforcement using lethal force but, these people have breached the capitol and are attempting to overthrow duly elected members of our government that makes them a domestic threat and should be treated as such.
