Apps

Applications I have Used

Here are a group of applications I have used in the past and some I am still using. Some of these applications I reviewed during my run of the Ohio and Erie Towpath Trail in 2019.

App Description Opinion
strava Designed by athletes, for athletes,
Strava’s mobile app and website connect millions of runners and cyclists through the sports they love.
I use Strava every time I run.
It works great with my Garmin Fenix 5
Delivers the stats I want when I want them.
I can stay in touch with or make new running friends through the feed section.
All around great app.
Visit
CMLogo Simply download the app, pick the charity, and start running! Our sponsors will make payment to your chosen charity. I use Charity Miles every time I run.  It’s an easy way to give to a charity of your choice. I give to Stand Up To Cancer.  After 30 years of smoking I may need a return on that investment. Visit
MFP Take control of your goals. Track calories, break down ingredients, and log activities with MyFitnessPal. The free version of this application is a great place to start. It tracks the calories you put in and can be linked to other applications to track calorie burn. Visit
nikerunclublogo The Nike Run Club App gives you the guidance, inspiration, and innovation you need to become a better athlete. Join us to reach
your goals and have some fun along the way.
I used the Nike Run Club app on my phone quite a bit. Within the app are several training programs to help you improve speed, endurance, distance and many others. Excellent music control in app. Visit
1527257401204 Track everything from pace, stride length, and cadence, plus get personalized coaching tips along the way. Not one of my favorite applications. The volume of announcements was harsh and sometimes startling. Occasionally the GPS tracking failed, while others running at the same time worked fine. Made by the same folks that bring you My Fitness Pal. visit
runkeeperlogo Even if you haven’t run a step yet. Join a team of millions of people who are using the ASICS Runkeeper™ app to reach their goals, and we’ll show you how running can change your life. This was the very first tracking app I ever used. In my opinion it is second only to Strava. It tracked consistently, had great features, and always worked well for me. I highly recommend this application. Visit
